Sometimes we need a little reminder of what is important in life.
Tonight we went to visit an old friend that we just learned has terminal cancer. We went thinking we could ease some of his burden,.....maybe we could give him some comfort. As is usual I was wrong! This dear friend comforted us. As we visited there in his home, he taught us. He spoke of his fears and concerns, and how he had come to peace with his life and his death, those fears and concerns gone. He spoke to us of his feelings of what is important....his family, and his beliefs.
I thought of our conversation as I brushed my teeth tonight.... I decided a person that is close to death is probably not an atheist. This man has always had a relationship with God, and that is why he is at peace, But, maybe those who claim to not believe in God have to find that peace by finding God?
I heard a different man who is fighting cancer say that when he looked at his life, and what was important......the car, job, house the things he thought were important, would not be mourning at his grave.
I think I am going to worry less about how much I weigh, or how clean my house is......those won't matter when I die. I don't think my kids are going to say "my Mom was always skinny", or "the house was always clean" at my funeral, I hope they don't! I hope they say we laughed, and they learned important life lessons from me. I hope they say I loved and served others, and I did my best.
Life is too short, I am going to enjoy each new day, and recognize it as a present.... after all, isn't that is why we call it the present? Hugs :-)

Play time
We love to attend plays together as a family, this past year we have attended Tarzan, crazy for you, 110 in the shade, to kill a mockingbird and the drowsy chaperon to name a few. Every year we love to see A Christmas Carol at the Hale Center Theater, and this year was no exception.
As we filed into our seats, I sat down and began my two favorite things. Reading the playbill and watching the other guests. I love to read about the actors and their lives, but the watching the other guests is probably the favorite. I like to try and guess what their lives are like, What they do for fun and how some couples ended up together. As I was thinking these the thoughts it occurred to me that plays have a way of changing people. We enter as strangers, not knowing anything about the other guests, and leave almost as a family.
As we watch the actors act, we become a part of their life on stage. We laugh with them, cry with them and learn to love or hate them. we do that as a group. And in the end we conquer whatever the foe was. It could selfishness as Scrooge did in a Christmas Carol. It could be prejustices as in Tarzan. Whatever the foe is, we come out conquer er and hopefully a little better because of it.
I am grateful for writers and actors, I am grateful for their talents, their love of the art and their dedication. One day I would like to be in a play. I don't know that I would make any type of a difference in anyone life, but I would like to try.

Ann bought a new house in August, so we went down to help her move in. It was alot of fun, but it was also hot!
Maran, a good friend of Ann's came with us, and we had a great time.

Harlem Globe Trotters
My family is my life. Both Robin and I are so proud of each of them.
I can't believe how fast they have grown and began lives for themselves.
our family is very close, and we enjoy doing things together.
This past week we went to see the globe trotters. It was fun, but the most fun was on the way home. we laughed and laughed at the jokes and anticks of the kids. Mike and Brandon staged a fight in the parking lot which had some poor little kids worried they were going to hurt each other. But all was well, as usual they were just kidding around.
